Ottolenghi, Upper Street, London
YATAMA Ottolenghi wrote some years the vegetarian recipe section in the Guardian. In recent years, I m'interloque before quiches bulgur, asparagus and vanilla, and a thousand other unlikely combinations or in fact, often inspired doubtful. So what was my joy when I was invited to a gourmet dinner in the restaurant's chef on Upper Street in London! This is one of its four brands, not far from where we came from Head Theatre precisely to applaud wildly last of HMS Pinafore by Gilbert & Sullivan interpreted by the mini troupe Charles Court Opera . It goes without saying that such was not the reception given to Ottolenghi ! But probably not for the reasons one might guess at first. We did a joy, of course, you can feast from a selection of plant fanatic. My host had not studied the issue. It is not there a shop, to be honest, I was eating veal cheek ... Finally, among the dishes chosen because Ottolenghi operates on tapas, in a deluxe version. The map is divided into two, first cold products, which poireautent in the lobby where smarter minds can order and eat at home (or in the pub to side). On the other hand, the hot products. One third of this card is 'Suitable for vegetarians ' ... We can say that the products are well selected, that is very fragrant with a certain mastery of herbs and perfumes. This does not please me too much done in this restaurant, it is this division and delicatessen products vaguely behind the deadly usual meals, either at the final map. The cuisine is Mediterranean, I'm not sure that the balance be given the most appropriate, in a version still select kitchen (three flowers of zucchini fritters obviously not the dozen per person than we did in my family! - But it was particularly good) but maybe it was just that day or that week.
Ps: the service is friendly, you must be ready to return to diners as it is fashionable in white decor.
Verdict: Although
